Blooming repeatedly, this brilliant orange wildflower is a favorite of herbalists across the world. With edible blossoms, it's common name 'pot marigold' came from the puddings that were made with it in Europe during the 16th and 17th century. During the middle ages it was used to treat headaches and heart ailments.

Calendula is typically added to salves and other topical preparations and has been shown to speed the healing of wounds, where it appears to have anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial effects.

Today, the flowers are often used to decorate cake and salads, and well as being a favorite in teas, cosmetic products, and burn ointments. Of course, it is also a beautiful addition to any garden!
