Organic Beets: Detroit Dark Red Planting Instructions:

Plant beets when the soil is first workable in early spring. The plants will do best ¾" deep and 1" apart, in rows 12 to 18" apart and in full sun. The best color and flavor develops with cool conditions and bright sunlight. To harvest beets continuously throughout the summer, replant every 3 weeks until midsummer. Mulch and water well, making sure the beets get plenty of moisture. Grow time is about 65 days.

Organic Beets: Detroit Dark Red Harvesting Instructions:

The ideal time to harvest Detroit Dark Red Beets for canning, pickling, and cooking is after 60 days, when the beets are 1" in diameter, but beets can be harvested at any time. To harvest your crop, separate the green tops from the roots, leaving 1" of stem on each beet.

Thank you so much for the Extraordinary Customer Service! It is extremely rare to find such wonderful service. (I haven't planted my seeds yet, but I expect they'll be the best I've ever purchased of any seeds or plants.) Thank you for the work you have done in obtaining all: meaning excellent employees who care and most likely the best seeds that can be found.

I have been buying MPS seeds for years now and the germination rates are outstanding, the service is great, delivery is quick, and as everyone else confirms, the packaging is really next level.   It has also been my experience is that the flavor of the heirloom produce is fantastic, much better than grocery store produce.

Heirloom Seeds September 1, 2016

I appreciate the packets that the seeds arrived in. It is of a heavy grade material that seals the seeds from moisture and light. I really like how I can re-seal the packet for future use.
