Organic Lettuce: Batavian - Great Lakes (500mg) Description:
Great Lakes lettuce belongs in the “iceberg” category of lettuce which makes it a staple for salads and sandwiches. The lettuce seeds from Patriot Seeds are 100% heirloom, Non-GMO, and certified organic by CCOF. Each package of seeds contains approximately 400 seeds, is re-sealable, and can be stored for 5+ years. The seeds are also dried and sealed air-tight for long-term storage. The total time from planting to your table is about 70-90 days (the earlier the harvest, the better the lettuce tastes). When you’re ready to declare your food independence, buy Patriot Seeds!

Organic Lettuce: Batavian - Great Lakes Planting Instructions:
Great Lakes lettuce grows best in full sun, although it can tolerate partial shade. They can be sowed in early spring or fall. Plant the seeds 1/8” deep spreading them about ½” apart. Rows should be spaced 12"–18" apart. When plants have two or three true leaves, thin to 8-12” spacing. Keep well-watered during dry periods. Lettuce is shallow-rooted, so avoid disturbing the soil around the plants when weeding. Unless there is regular rainfall, lettuce plants must be watered deeply at least once a week and more frequently during periods of drought. Mulch with a layer of compost or clean straw to help the soil retain moisture.

Organic Lettuce: Batavian - Great Lakes Harvesting Instructions:
For best quality, pick lettuce early rather than late as lettuce allowed to grow too long becomes bitter and tough. Try to harvest in the morning or evening when the leaves are crisp, sweet, and full of moisture. Store for 5 to 7 days in a plastic bag in the refrigerator.
