Organic Swiss Chard: Fordhook Giant Planting Instructions:
Plant Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard seeds indoors five to six weeks before the last frost to transplant. Directly sow Swiss Chard seeds 1” deep, 4” apart in rows 18-24” apart, two to three weeks before the last expected frost date. Reduce water and fertilizer to harden off plants. When 3-4” high thin seedlings to 6-12” spacing. Mulch plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. To get “bright light” colors start seeding earlier indoors.

Organic Swiss Chard: Fordhook Giant Harvesting Instructions:
Fordhook Giant Swiss Chard is ready to harvest when plants are 6-8” tall. Cut off the outer leaves 1-1/2” above the ground with a sharp knife. Harvest outer leaves for continual production. If you harvest the whole plant, cut it back to about 3” above the soil and it will grow back. Leaves more than 10” in length may have an “earthy” taste.
