Organic Di Cicco Broccoli Planting Instructions:
Broccoli prefers well-draining soil located in full sun. Cultivate the ground by loosening soil to a depth of 12-15" and mixing in a few inches of compost. Soil should be above 40° F. Direct sow ¼" deep, and ½" apart in rows 2" apart. Thin seedlings once they are 1-2" tall to 16" apart. For indoor starters, transplant 3 to 4 weeks before the last frost. Protect transplants from frost with newspapers, paper bags or baskets. For fall crops, broccoli can be seeded into the garden 85 to 100 days before the average date of the first fall frost. Water the ground under the plants regularly.
Organic Di Cicco Broccoli Harvesting Instructions:
Di Cicco Broccoli produces a main head as well as smaller florets that can be harvested throughout the season. The main broccoli head should be harvested around 50 to 85 days after sowing, or when it reaches 3" in diameter. After the main head is harvested, more side florets will grow. Buds should be firm and tight at peak. Harvest immediately if buds start to separate or you begin to see the yellow petals inside.
