Organic Cabbage: Red Acre Planting Instructions:
Sow seeds 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost. Plant ¼ to ½” deep, 3 to 4” apart, and in rows 2’ apart. When seedlings reach 3” tall, thin to 12” apart. Water the plants thoroughly and apply a light mulch to conserve soil moisture and suppress weeds. If starting indoors to transplant later, sow seeds 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost, planting 12” apart in rows 20” apart.
Organic Cabbage: Red Acre Harvesting Instructions:
Harvest the heads of cabbage as soon as they are well-developed, firm, and solid when squeezed. Cut the heads off with a sharp knife and discard the outermost leaves. If cabbages are left in the ground beyond maturity, they are more vulnerable to disease and splitting.
