Organic Bean: Blue Lake Bush Planting Instructions:
Plant beans in full sun 1 to 2" deep and 2 to 3' apart. It is best to plant the beans in early spring, once the danger of frost has passed and the soil temperature is at least 60°F. For best results, coat the seeds with bean and pea inoculant before planting. Plant in hills spaced 30 to 36" apart. Make sure that you do not plant too early, as overly cool and wet soil may lead the seeds to rot. Once the bush beans start to produce, they come in all at once. Stagger planting by two weeks to keep the crop going longer.
Organic Bean: Blue Lake Bush Harvesting Instructions:
You can harvest Blue Lake Bush beans at any time, but most gardeners wait until the beans begin to firm up and can be snapped. This bean variety is generally as thick as a pencil by the point of harvest. If you wait too long to harvest, the beans can become overgrown and tough, seemingly overnight.
