A black swan event is a term coined in the 2007 book, The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable by Nassim Nicholas Taleb. 

According to Taleb, a black swan event has 3 critical components:

1) Is so rare that even the possibility that it might occur is unknown. 

2) Has a catastrophic impact.

3) Is explained in hindsight as if it were actually predictable.

Because a black swan event is innately unpredictable, it’s virtually impossible to prepare for one. 

That said, there are things we can do today to prepare for the unforeseen and ensure we can take care of our families even if the worst should happen. 

Preparing starts with understanding the threats we face in 2024, then creating a strategy to manage the risk to the best of our ability. 

What We’re Closely Watching in 2024

A lot is going on geopolitically and domestically as we ring in the New Year. 

We live in a world of chaos. And it seems to get more chaotic each day. 

In our Scout articles, we avoid writing from fear. We believe that knowing the landscape gives us clues on how we should prepare for the worst. 

We hope and pray NONE of the events on our list happens. But if they do, we plan to be prepared to the best of our ability. 

With that said, here are the possible events on our radar for 2024. 

National Security Event

With record numbers of migrants from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East pouring over our borders, more and more people are concerned that a strike may come within our country.

Catherine Herridge recently told Face the Nation that she’s concerned 2024 may be the year of a national security black swan event with a significant impact. 

“There are a number of concerns I have that factor into that—not only this sort of enduring heightened threat level that we're facing with the wars in Israel, and also Ukraine, and we're so divided in this country in ways that we haven't seen before, and I think that just creates fertile ground for our adversaries like North Korea, China, and Iran,” she said.  

FBI Director Christopher Wray, in Congressional testimony, recently echoed this concern: “What I would say that is unique about the environment that we’re in right now, in my career [...] I’ve never seen a time where all the threats, or so many of the threats, are all elevated, all at exactly the same time.”

It wouldn’t take much for someone on the inside to take out our fragile power grid (which we recently warned you about) and plunge the United States into darkness and chaos with no access to food, money, or healthcare services. 

Or an attack that would give the US government cause to impose martial law and lockdowns in the name of “security.”  

Or a strike that could draw us into WWIII. 

WWIII

As the world found out on the eve of WWI, it can be the least likely event to send the world to war. 

Before WWI, the belief was that economic and military alliances would prevent a full-scale war. The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914 proved this theory wrong, and the world went to war. 

We’re going on year two of the Ukraine-Russia war and things are heating up with the Hamas-Israel conflict and in the Middle East.

At the time of publishing, Iranian-backed Houthis continue to attack commercial vessels in the Red Sea that they say are linked with Israel. The Houthis have launched about two dozen attacks on international shipping since October 19.

The strikes prompted US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to announce the formation of a coalition of at least 13 countries to focus on security in the Red Sea. 

Currently, there are five warships from the United States, France, and the United Kingdom patrolling the Red Sea and the western Gulf of Aden. 

On January 1, Iran deployed a warship to the Red Sea. 

It’s not looking good, folks. 

And then there’s the China-US tensions over Taiwan. Any action taken across the Taiwan Strait will have global ramifications. 

Even North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un is expecting armed conflict.  

On December 31, Kim told his military leaders “to mobilize the most powerful means to destroy South Korea and the US if either country chooses to go to war.”

All the world needs is someone to light a match, and things can escalate… quickly.  

Should the world go to war, we face the risk of nuclear war, Americans drafted into service, serious supply chain disruptions, rationing, and our way of life forever changed. 

How prepared are you should this happen? 

Massive Cyberattack 

Last January in Davos, Switzerland, the WEF launched its Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2023 report, and it’s pretty terrifying.

Much like they “warned” about a global pandemic before it happened, they are sounding the alarm on the risk of catastrophic cyberattacks.

According to the WEF, “Over 93% of cybersecurity experts and 86% of business leaders believe ‘a far-reaching, catastrophic cyber event is likely in the next two years’ and there is a critical skills gap that is threatening societies and key infrastructure.”

They even put out a video titled: “A cyber-attack with COVID-like characteristics?” 

The WEF created a Partnership Against Cybercrime, which essentially wants a regulated internet. 

They want everyone’s access to the internet to be tied to a digital ID. 

Intelligence agencies will know what you read, write, and do online. The goal of this is total control of what you read, see, and think… and worse, control over your money (more on that in a moment).  

Who exactly is partnering with the WEF? US, Israeli, and British intelligence, the FBI, the Department of Justice, big banks like Bank of America, and big tech companies like Microsoft and Amazon.

Back to a large-scale cyberattack. 

Independent journalist Whitney Webb recently exposed the WEF false flag plan to carry out a massive cyberattack in 2024 that will pave the wave for a regional war in the Middle East. 

Not only could they use an attack to blame another nation-state and justify going to war, but it will help elites and governments usher in control over our money. 

If they convince the public that a bad actor like Russia or Iran set up the attack, people will rally around the flag and support a war.

And… if they convince the public that anonymity online is dangerous as a result of a cyberattack, they can manufacture fear and “save the day” with digital IDs. 

Is this their Great Reset? Will they use this to collapse the system and usher in CBDCs and digital IDs?  

And if they do use a massive cyberattack to collapse the system and shut off the internet or take down the grid, are you prepared for the chaos that will ensue?

Should a black swan event happen that takes out part or all of the grid, causes lockdowns, severely disrupts the supply chain, or war breaks out, you need food on hand. 

Because, when it happens, you may not be able to get the food you need from the grocery store. 

The store may physically be destroyed, or it may be impossible to ship products from one place to another.

Given the very real possibility of food shortages and the real necessity of food for survival, stock up on long-term emergency food.
