Open fire the word handle can get...read moreI just ordered the coffee pot so I'll have two now. I bought same style of coffee pot about 30 years ago from a camping store. I still use it! Open fire the word handle can get very hot if flames are directly on it but stovetop cooling I can pick up pot without and oven mitt as long as handle isn't over flames. As long as the quality is close to the same as 30 years ago you diffinatelly can't go wrong. Also nice to have a glass top view to see the strength of coffee you would like. A percolator like this also saves on coffee. You can brew longer to get stronger coffee actually with the same amount of coffee for weaker coffee. Just don't hard boil when doing this or you will ruin the taste of the coffee. These are my experiences when camping or brewing at home. Adds a down home freshness to your experience. Again highly recommend and the current sale price is the same price I paid for the coffee maker 30 years ago! Definitely made great quality back then as to the 30 year old cost comparison. I also might add that it is very hard to to find a stovetop/ campfire purculator with a glass knob. You won't be disappointed!
