Declare Your Food Independence in 3 Easy Steps

Spring is finally here.

In the Idaho panhandle, the snows have turned to rain, preparing the soil for this year's planting. Yesterday, as I checked in on my tomato seedlings I have in a sunny, south-facing window, I got that feeling again.

You know what I'm talking about? Let me explain - because it's my hope to inspire the same feeling in you.

Excitement doesn't come close to describing it.

For me, growing your own food represents a tremendous opportunity. To get your hands dirty. To get back to the traditions of generations past. To provide the freshest, healthiest produce for your family.

#1 Reason to Start a Patriot Garden & 3 Steps to Get Started

So, what's the big deal about growing your own food? I'll cut to the chase.

Growing your own food means money in your pocket.

According to the National Gardening Association, the average home gardener sees up to a $530 annual return on investment. That's the profit you could make if you sold your food at the market. It's freeing up money in your budget that would otherwise be spent on food.

Even better, growing your own food brings you closer to your local economy. From buying supplies to bartering your surplus crops, you help fellow neighbors and patriots thrive at the same time.

On top of all that, gardening is deeply connected to the preparedness lifestyle. As I've written to you before, gardening is the only true long-term preparedness solution. You can read that article by clicking here.

But, in order to be truly prepared for those kinds of extreme situations, we must first gain the experience needed to survive.

What's Holding You Back?

A lot of folks don't grow their own food because they think it's too difficult.

I can tell you that that mindset is the only thing holding you back.

Often, most folks just need a little nudge in the right direction. Getting started can be the hardest part.

That's why I want to share 3 easy steps that will have you well on your way to enjoying incredibly fresh and tasty fruits and vegetables from your own garden.

1)
Check with your local extension services

Your local cooperative extension should be your first go-to resource. They can tell you the best varieties in your region to plant, when to plant and more. Just search online for "local extension services" with your zip code and you should find yours.

2)
Map out your garden

The next step is getting to know the land that will produce your food. Get to know the soil (your extension service might provide free or cheap soil testing), take account of sunlight and shade and draw a simple map of your garden. Having the right plan is crucial to your success. However, this is something that is best perfected over several seasons. If it's your first garden, just take your best guess.

3)
Sow the right seeds

To ensure the most productive garden, it all starts with the highest-quality seeds. You need the right varieties for your growing region. You need to plant with balanced nutrition in mind. Finally, to get the biggest return on investment with your garden, you need to be able to harvest your seeds for the next season.

That's why we created our Survival Seed Vault.
It's designed to help folks like you declare your food independence now and be ready for any long-term crisis situation in the future.

The Survival Seed Vault gives you:

  • 20 varieties ideal for any growing region
  • Only heirloom seeds - no GMOs or hybrids
  • The ability to harvest and reuse seeds
