Walmart Recalls Popular Soup in 29 States Over Listeria

Walmart’s Marketside Tomato Bisque Soup Kits have been recalled in 29 states over possible Listeria contamination. The recall involves 3,240 packs produced by Kettle Cuisine after routine testing found a presumptive positive result for Listeria monocytogenes. The soup kits were sold exclusively at Walmart between June 30 and July 7 and have a best-by date of August 22, 2026. No illnesses had been reported at the time of the recall, but officials are urging shoppers not to eat the soup, croutons, or cheese from the recalled kits.

Why This Matters:
Ready-to-heat meals can feel like a safe, easy option until a recall shows how quickly that trust can change. Listeria is especially concerning because it can cause serious illness in older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and people with weakened immune systems. For households, this is a reminder to check recalled products carefully and keep dependable shelf-stable meals on hand when everyday grocery items are suddenly pulled from use.
