Nearly 23,000 pounds of Ukrop’s Homestyle Foods baked spaghetti and chicken cobbler products have been recalled over concerns they may contain metal slivers. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the affected products were sold in Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia, as well as through Department of War commissaries and online sales. The recall includes bulk pans and single-serving trays of Ukrop’s Baked Spaghetti and Chicken Cobbler with “best by” dates ranging from July 8 through August 5. Officials say the problem was discovered after a customer reported finding a piece of metal in a fully cooked product, and consumers are being urged not to eat the recalled items.
Why This Matters:

For households, it is another reminder that everyday grocery items can become uncertain quickly, and having dependable backup food in place helps reduce reliance on the store when recalls, contamination concerns, or inspection problems create uncertainty.
