
Utah is facing a surge of wildfire activity after one of the driest winters on record left vegetation parched across the state. Six larger fires were burning as of Tuesday afternoon, including the Cottonwood Fire near Beaver and the Iron Fire near Eureka, both of which had grown to more than 24,000 acres. Several fires prompted evacuations, road closures, heavy smoke, and air quality concerns, with officials warning that hot, dry conditions have created a dangerous start to the season.
