Droughts & Dreams is the book that will have you returning to your shelves again and again for wisdom and inspiration. On each and every page, you'll find incredible true stories - including those from My Patriot Supply customers - of people who practiced self-reliance to survive the Great Depression.

When the stock market crashed in October 1929, many people were forced to give up their lavish consumer lifestyles and get back to the basics of homesteading. Instead of letting their situation go from bad to worse, these survivors worked hard to create a better, more simple life. They grew and raised their own food, they bartered to get what they needed and they worked together.

As you turn through the pages of this book, you'll find the lessons inside are just as relevant today as they were then and will be for generations to come. Plus, the forewords by Glenn Beck and Matt Redhawk give you a practical guide for applying the lessons in the book to your own life.

  • Forewords by Glenn Beck and Matt Redhawk
  • A classic addition to your home bookshelf
  • Full of inspiring stories, survival tips, recipes and more

Droughts & Dreams September 14, 2017
Reviewer: Kari Brantley from Morris, OK United States
I am loving these stories.  Reminds me of the stories that my grandpa used to tell me before he passed away.  Papa Herman was born in 1925 in Guthrie, OK.  He said that he could remember stuffing the gaps in the walls of their house with newspaper to help with the cold.  They moved to Texas for a while to pick cotton and he said that he would earn .10 for every hundred pounds of cotton that he would pick, (the whole family did) and he saved his money and bought his first pair of store bought underwear.  It was a luxury that he really didn't need but he just wanted to say that he had a pair.  It made him into the strong, loving, hardworking man that he was and we learned so much from him.  He was truly part of the Greatest Generation.  Strong & self reliant.

Corn Chowder & Oatmeal August 5, 2017

So far I've only tried the corn chowder and oatmeal. They are absolutely DELICIOUS! I did add some left-over corn on the cob and a couple of little, diced potatoes to the chowder just because they were there and I always add cinnamon, Stevia, raisins and walnuts to my oatmeal, but they would been wonderful without them.

Fantastic Book! November 11, 2016
Reviewer: Anonymous Person from Taylor, TX United States
"Droughts & Dreams" was an incredible and easy to read book! It's broken down into many personal stories, each only a few pages long. If you enjoy history and/or learning from those who have actually survived (and sometimes thrived) in desperate times, you will enjoy this book. No "theories" here, just basic, practical ways of living that made the difference between life and death for many. I absolutely loved it.

Never hurts to know how folks handed bad situations in the past and after reading this book, I am now aware how much I "didn't" know at all!  Has made a huge difference on how I am preparing......
