Panorama Produce is recalling 302 boxes of mangoes sold at select Walmart stores because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled fruit was distributed from August 10 through August 21 in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The mangoes were packaged in Martina-branded cases, and individual fruit can be identified by a light blue Agrofepac sticker, “Produce of Mexico,” PLU 4584, and UPC #07503061948050. The recall was initiated after FDA sampling found Salmonella in mangoes grown on the same farm, though no illnesses had been reported at the time of the recall.
Why This Matters:
This recall shows how fast produce concerns can reach shoppers even before illnesses are reported. Mangoes are often eaten fresh, added to meals, or served to kids without a cooking step that could reduce risk. When contamination is found at the source, products already distributed through major retailers can become a concern quickly. For households, it is another reminder to check recalls closely and keep dependable shelf-stable food options in place when fresh grocery items become unsafe or uncertain.
